It’s no secret that the Vuepoint Creative team are big fans of WordPress. WordPress simply makes site management and growth a breeze – there’s no reason not to use WordPress! One of the primary benefits of WordPress is without a doubt the millions of WordPress plugins. At Vuepoint Creative, we have a handful of WordPress plugins that we use on every WordPress website we make.
Personally, Advanced Custom Fields Pro is my favorite WordPress plugin, hands down. Advanced Custom Fields allows WordPress developers to add an infinite number of customizations to a website. It supports 27 different field types, from text areas, to image galleries, to dropdowns, to repeating content areas. This allows website managers to have additional content input areas in the WordPress Dashboard, allowing for much easier site management.
As great as the Advanced Custom Fields plugin is, there is a downside. Even though it supports WordPress shortcode, custom WordPress theme development is required to take full advantage of this incredible plugin.
Advanced Custom Fields has a free version, and a paid upgrade that includes more features.
ManageWP is more of a service than a WordPress plugin, but it has a companion plugin, which means it qualifies for this list. ManageWP offers a variety of services to make maintaining a WordPress website much easier.
My favorite features include:
- One click updates
- Automatic backups
- Website clone wizard
- Downtime notifications
- SEO tools
ManageWP offers even more, so don’t just take my word for it, take a look at the full feature list.
Even though WordPress has inherently strong SEO juice, there’s never an end to the optimizations that can be done for a website’s search engine rankings. This WordPress plugin provides many easy-to-use, automated tools to help take your website to the top of the search engines. Yoast’s WordPress SEO Plugin’s most notable features including keyword analysis, keyword optimization tools, XML sitemaps, and code cleanup.
WordPress SEO by Yoast is free, however it has a paid upgrade, and even has companion plugins that target video SEO and local SEO.
If you’re serious about getting to the top of the search engines, this WordPress plugin is for you.
Gravity Forms is a paid WordPress plugin, but it is by far the best contact form plugin for WordPress. Not only is it incredibly feature rich, but it has a super easy to use, drag and drop, interface. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to add a contact form to your WordPress website, or if you’re looking to build an extremely complicated contact form with a variety of different fields and even include conditional fields. Gravity Forms does it all.
Let’s be honest, WordPress default search functionality leaves much to be desired. It can’t be tweaked, and results are organized by date, rather than by relevance. SearchWP fixes that problem. It’s an install and go plugin that requires no configuration, but has tons of tweaking options should the need arise. For this plugin, it’s probably better to just see it in action rather than read my explanation.
One of the few other areas that WordPress falls short on is security. While it has many inherent security features, it is very susceptible to “brute-force attacks.” Lockdown WP Admin fixes that by hiding the login URL and prevents access to certain files. Adding a security plugin to your WordPress website is an unfortunate must, and Lockdown WP Admin is our recommendation.
What is your Favorite WordPress Plugin
There are hundreds of millions of WordPress plugins, so I am quite sure there are some cool WordPress plugins out there that we haven’t heard of. What are your favorite plugins?
