Via Metropolitan Transit provides service to 98% of Bexar County and is San Antonio’s #1 public transportation service. When Via launched its Via SmartMove Initiative, a program meant to share the transportation service’s resources with the public, they reached out to Vuepoint for help.

The Strategy

Our strategy was to create a website that was not only intuitive but also responsive and accessible on all devices and to the majority of Via’s customers. Simple navigation would make it easy for the public to use this online resource, and  a subscription option would help ensure Via could easily connect with the people who use their services.

Our primary goals were to:

1. Design a scalable, easy-to-manage website.
2. Ensure the site is easily browsable on all devices, considering the majority of Via’s customers are mobile users.
3. Communicate the VIA SmartMove initiatives effectively.

Website

We organized the VIA SmartMove website into seven different “initiatives,” each with their own subsections, including meetings, resources, news, and a gallery, all of which can be managed through a customized WordPress-based backend. This makes it easy for Via employees to update the site without having to make changes to website code.

Additionally, the responsive design ensures Via’s primary audience can view the website in its most accessible form from any device, including their phone. They can also select their language preference (English or Spanish) from the bi-lingual options. And finally, the site’s integration with social media makes it even easier for visitors to connect with Via on their preferred social platform.

The Results

The result was a bilingual, user-friendly website that serves as the hub for all of VIA’s SmartMove Initiative. Visitors can access valuable resources, such as bus and transit center maps, as well as information about upcoming community events. They can also subscribe to receive updates and meeting notices.
